The Rock River Community Clinic (Whitewater, WI) team participated in a full-day staff meeting that included emergency action training, a session on understanding immigration and paths to citizenship, team goal setting, and much more. The training included a session led by Jorge Islas Martinez, Melania Argueta Borchert, and Rosalinda Martinez on Barriers for Migrant Families, Asylum Seekers, and Immigrant Families.

Partnership Community Health Center (Appleton, WI) participated in a career fair hosted by Pointters Community Initiatives and Menasha Joint School District. Partnership staff talked to students about careers in healthcare and their work at PCHC.

NorthLakes Community Clinic (Ashland, WI) participated in a Discover Healthcare learning event at Northwood Technical College, which had a unique format that allowed high school students to participate in interactive experiences related to various healthcare fields. NorthLakes lab technicians showed up to the Ashland Campus with an impressive hands-on learning session that had the kids doing mock blood draws that used green blood and real needles.

Muslim Community & Health CenterGerald L. Ignace Indian Health CenterSixteenth Street Community Health Centers, and Progressive Community Health Centers’ Diabetes Prevention programs were highlighted by Milwaukee NNS. Milwaukee County has the highest rates of diabetes in the state at 9.7%, compared to the state average of 7.8%, according to Health Compass Milwaukee.

NorthLakes Community Clinic partnered with the Turtle Lake School District. NorthLakes Clinic staff treated students to the last round of fluoride this morning!

The NorthLakes Dental Outreach Program is a “School based oral health program to help prevent cavities and keep kids healthy.” They serve students PK-12th grade with dental care (fluoride treatments and sealants), three times/year. Parents can register children for services at the beginning of the year.

WPHCA Hosted a Successful In-Person Behavioral Health Leaders Meeting in Madison

Community Health Center Behavioral Health Leaders from across the state met in Madison to discussed how Community Health Centers can optimize new reimbursement options and care delivery models to support critical care management supports for patients with behavioral health needs. Access Community Health Centers and the Collaborative Family Health Care Association (CFHA) joined the panel to discuss learnings from implementing the Collaborative Care Model (CoCM) & General BHI Model.

Earlier this year, Access’ Julie Nielsen-Witkovsky, MD, and Chief Behavioral Health Officer Elizabeth Zeidler Schreiter, PsyD, presented on Access’ integrated model of behavioral health care at the Wisconsin Psychiatric Association annual conference in Milwaukee.
