medical assistant appreticeship (MAA) program

“This program has provided us an additional recruiting resource for developing new Medical Assistants. Given the high cost of travel staffing, this program will easily cut costs in the long run. In addition, the program has been a great morale boost for our staff. It shows a willingness to think outside the box, and staff see our Hospital’s willingness to invest in an employee’s future. We look forward to continue participation in future years.”

WPHCA’s Medical Assistant Apprenticeship (MAA) Program is an inhouse apprenticeship program that prepares participants to take the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). WPHCA staff manage the program and ensure that participating Employers and Apprentices have the support and knowledge they need to complete program requirements and the exam successfully.

Accepting priority Community Health Center applications to participate from May 1 – June 30, 2023, before opening to other community partners.

The program will take place from
October 2023-September 2024.

The MAA Program is a great opportunity for:

  • Health Centers looking to develop or strengthen their MA workforce pipelines
  • Incumbent CHC staff seeking additional professional development or clinical experience, either as program Coaches or Apprentices
