Emergency Management Program
After the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, and Hurricane Katrina in August, 2005, federal, state, and local officials have placed increased emphasis on emergency preparedness across all sectors of society. Health care facilities continue to play a significant role in emergencies, whether the emergencies are tornadoes, accidents, snow storms, power outages, floods, or infectious diseases.
The Wisconsin Primary Health Care Association provides technical assistance to Health Centers in Wisconsin to help ensure that they have emergency plans, business continuity plans, and necessary communications and personal protective equipment. In addition, the Association seeks to ensure that Health Centers' plans are integrated into local, regional, and state plans.
